Our story
Why we built ShopNet
We watched talented sellers across Sri Lanka try to build businesses through social media. Managing orders in DMs, tracking payments manually, and hoping buyers would somehow find them. Others moved to existing platforms only to discover hidden charges, inflated commissions, and fee structures designed to make the platform rich while sellers barely break even. Too many good businesses were giving up.
On the buyer side, discovering local products meant scrolling through unverified Facebook pages with no reviews, no secure payments, and no way to resolve disputes if something went wrong. Even on established platforms, buyers had no way to know which sellers were nearby or trustworthy.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we built ShopNet, a marketplace designed from the ground up for Sri Lankan commerce. A place where sellers get professional tools with transparent, low commission rates, and buyers can shop with confidence knowing every seller is reviewed and every transaction is tracked.
We also believe in a different kind of marketplace. A location-based one. On ShopNet, buyers discover shops nearest to them first, and sellers reach the buyers in their own area. Every shop gets a fair chance in its locality instead of competing against the entire country. No monopolies. Just genuine local commerce where proximity matters.
